Conrad 1.0.0 development is going to start soon after LiveCD 0.2.5 is released

I am looking for suggestions on what to add to it (expecially new features/modifies processes/make.conf CFLAGS)
-----
Small list of plans
Quote:

Conrad Install 1.0 Development
Working on new plans for the Conrad install method upgrade to 1.0,
Currently the plans include...
* Stage1 OR Stage2 build instead of building from a stage3
* Stable 4.x series AND Snapshot 4.x series compiler options
* Seeking a more optimized make.conf (Open for suggestions!)
* Slightly different toolkit build process
* e17 instructions
<!Looking for Suggestions!>

*UPDATED to 0.7.5*

New GCC snapshot disagreed with the CFLAGS, back to GCC 4.0.2

<sorry for causing anyone havoc with this, but this IS an experimental installation, the older snapshot worked fine - I will stay away from GCC snapshots>

Conrad will be more of a ROCK when 1.0 is released*

Step 10.3 is missing "digest" at the end again. :wink:

Step 10.3 also says to emerge archck-sources, despite downloading the build for nitro-sources.

This is a good way to get gcc 4 system, but...

Why are the "essestial system programs" (acpid, syslog-ng, etc) emerged before the toolchain is rebuilt?

Oh my gosh 8O You are right :-p I had that setup a long time ago for the purpose of the old, old scripts and it did emerge -e world :-p Thanks for pointing it out, I moved it to section 10 and moved everything below that down one, ex: kernel is now 9, etc.

Great install guide, works fine for me! :)

But one question: we mount all the partitions before chrooting into the new environment, so don't we have to copy over the /etc/mtab before chrooting? Because if you want to mount e.g. /boot in the new environment, it says that /boot is already in use etc.

You don't HAVE to ;) I never do so didnt really incorporate it into the guide, but I say mount the boot partition BEFORE chrooting, so copying /etc/mtab to /mnt/gentoo/proc/mounts is unnecessary ;)

I see, ok ;) I was a bit confused because you mounted the /boot partition before chrooting and again at the point where you installed grub, and that was when I got the error-message that /boot is busy :idea:

Ahh sorry :) I should make it clearer, making it say "Make sure your boot partition is mounted" I will revise some typing in the guide 1.0.0

You might want to update your grub.conf section.. It all points to archck instead of nitro.

Small fixes to the guide:
// End Conrad Installation Guide 0.70 should be 0.75
and the "ambition" release date should just be a link of the date it was released pointing to the 0.2.5 install cd thread
