| I have just emerged xfce4, but when I start it (using startxfce4), it stops before xfdesktop is started (I think). I can start programs using the alt-F2 combination, but nothing happens when I right-click, and I dont see the "dock" or any menus. I tried to start xfdesktop from an xterm, but it just says "Illegal instruction" and nothing happens. How do I fix this so that xfce starts up properly? Where should I look for error messages? |

That can happen when you built for the wrong architecture. Post the output of emerge info please.
