Hi,
I heard from a very reliable source that Gentoo will be dropping support for the 2.4.x kernels next month. HELP! I need 2.4.x support. I need the Cisco VPN client working so I can work from home. I need to run Cisco Systems VPN Client Version 3.7. I don't run a depracated system. I sync up, the kernel
2.4.28-gentoo-r9 work fine with my NVIDIA card, 1394 firewire, and sound. It's very stable. I use the box for software development, video editing with kino, gaming, and access to the internet. I would really be stuck without access to 2.4.x.

just dont upgrade your kernel 
Or better yet, upgrade your kernel and software to support it.

| Just because they're dropping support doesn't mean you can't use the old kernel. Just keep a local copy of the kenel and patchset. |
