no volume control on i8x0 + gentoo-2.6.13-r3

Hi,
I have a problem with the alsamixer on intel8x0:
Sound works, no errors, but alsamixer works strange.
I can only mute PCM, everything else seems to not working.
Master control, muting gives no effect. PCM chanel has no control box.

Also notices, when running mplayer and trying volume control:
[Mixer] No hardware mixing, inserting volume filter.

system:
Linux version 2.6.13-gentoo-r3
chipset SiS 745

alsa-driver, alsa-utils are from the recent stable portage branch.

It's cleared up that the AC97 codec from cmedia has no hardware mixer.
The softvol plugin from alsa has solved the problem for me.
