openoffice 2.0 : can`t change interface font, render issues

Hello,
I have such problem :

I`ve installed ooffice 2.0(openoffice-bin), ran it and and saw terrible(but readable) interface fonts.
When I set to replace 'Interface User' font with any other, it doesn`t change.
Setting 'Use system font for user interface' on/off doesn`t affect anything too.
There are some rendering issues (for example, at the drowing panel not all kind of lines are rendered) too.

I see following issue when I run ooffice under fluxbox, but when I run it under kde, interface font looks well, although I can`t change it and there are no render issues!
(it seems to me, that different gtk themes are used when ooffice run under kde and fluxbox)

So how can I change ooffice interface font and how it depends from WM I use ?

some info :

freetype-2.1.9-r1
xorg-x11-6.8.2-r4
corefonts-1-r2

kde-3.4.1
fluxbox-0.9.13-r1

Works fine for me. Just that I don't have the Freetype fonts installed - just the corefonts.

Never mind - just noticed you used the bin file. I compiled it and I know that it will take on your desktop profile if you compile it.

After looking through /usr/bin/ooffice2 I found '--widgets-set ' option which can be gtk or qt.
By default (may be becouse of my USE flags) '--widgets-set qt' is set.

So, if I run
ooffice2 --widgets-set gtk
I see nice fonts, no rendering issues, same look in fluxbox and kde.
It may help someone with similar problem, but I`m not sure.

Now all is working well for me, but I still have questions :

1. Why is font replacing not working in any case ?
2. Why qt theme settings(theme,font) in kde and others WM vary ? How can I change this ?

I also found that setting OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde/gtk work in a similar manner as --widgets-set

But yeah, still not using the same font rendering engine as X and other apps. Very ugly compare to my cleartype with autohinting fonts.

Hello,

Just thought I'd mention that this only seems to be an issue with the openoffice-bin version of openoffice. The "compiled from source" version seems to work just fine.

My suspicion would be that whoever is producing the openoffice-bin version is only testing on GTKish WMs... I'll look through the bug database, to see if this is reported...yet, and, if not, file a bug myself.

Hello,

I had similar problems as xkorst when I used openoffice-bin-2.0

I have recently installed openoffice-2.0.1 from source with flags :
app-office/openoffice-2.0.1 -binfilter -curl -eds -gnome -gtk -java +kde -ldap -mozilla +xml2

When I run it typing 'ooffice2 ' in kde there are nice fonts and no render issues
When I run it typing 'ooffice2' in fluxbox I see bad fonts and rendering issues,
but if I run 'ooffice2 --widgets-set qt' all is looking fine
(I think that '--widgets-set qt' option must be default in any case when "+kde -gnome -gtk " use flags are used... )

Little tip about changing interface font:
Tools => Options => Fonts
there are no 'Andale Sans UI' font in the list(possibly you don`t have it at all), just type it by hand
Font: Andale Sans UI
Replace with: your_font (this time it is necessary to choose real font from the list )
