so: I have an asrock k7s41 board, and the onboard sis900 lately decided that its MAC was ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff -- a problem reported fairly recently with certain 2.4.x linux, but I am using 2.6. ok whatever. so I thought updating its bios to the latest could not hurt. well it did, heh. first bad bios flash ever, in 10+ years of flashing bios.
lucky me, I have a second machine with the exact same board, so was able to do a bios pull, hotswap, and flash.
problem is, now both boards think they have the same MAC. easy enough to get around using macchanger in /etc/conf.d/net, but it would be nice if I could permanently save the altered MAC back to the board.
ideas? thanks!! _________________ I've got the brain, I'm insane, you can't stop the power |
