hey, currently im running windows xp. Im looking to do a dual boot of windows/linux. ive already partitioned my hdd, and i know how to do a dual boot. But im wondering what version of gentoo is right for me.
Right now i have an Athlon XP 2800+.
What version of gentoo do i need?, just tell me if you guys need more info about my comp. |

Hi!
Well Gentoo doesn't have any versions in the common meaning, like other distros have. That's mostly because Gentoo builds everything from source, so every installation is somewhat unique. There is however the distinction between stable and testing, but that's all covered in the Gentoo handbook (more in detail that I could give you You can find the link on http://www.gentoo.org.
Then just get the latest livecd (2005.1 I think) and fire away!

grab a copy of the 2005.1 installation cd and either print out hte gentoo x86/arch manual..
then read the manual before instlaling so your comfortable with what needs to be done. Then dive right in!!
gl ..hope ur pc is fast as compiling can sometimes take too long

If you cant print it out, just read it online on a second computer or after you get networking setup on your first terminal install gentoo and follow the handbook with the second(Alt+F2) with links2
In the second terminal window log in and then
