Greetings.
I have a server running sendmail ( with CanIt spam filtering ... we need to keep sendmail as-is ), and courier-imap to store mail. I have some 'issues' with shared folders, and it was recommended that I use virtual accounts with virtual shared folders.
I'm not sure if I can do this or not. With our current setup, each user has an account on the server. In many cases, their shell is set to /bin/false, but in others ( ie people using procmail or a .forward file ), they still need a valid shell.
Can I migrate this setup to using virtual accounts? What will sendmail think of this? I assume sendmail supports virtual accounts somehow, but I'm not sure how to integrate this with courier-imap. Has anyone done this?
Also, will I be able to use procmail and .forward files if people don't have an account on the server? What are the alternatives here?
Any help greatly appreciated. |
