yes, i startet with a completely empty /var/tmp/portage.

when i emerge eet, these dirs are created:

/var/tmp/portage/eet-9999/distdir
/var/tmp/portage/eet-9999/temp
/var/tmp/portage/eet-9999/work

But not anything further on...

EDIT:

DIRs in emerge info are all default, packages are in package.keywords

weird!
sorry saty, i can't see what is wrong :(

I tried here and it goes normally, without trying to connect.
It should says:
Quote:
* Copying e17/libs/eet from /usr/portage/distfiles/cvs-src ...
* CVS module e17/libs/eet is now in /var/tmp/portage/eet-9999/work
>>> Source unpacked.
Running aclocal... (and goes on...)

From that error on your post:
Code:
ERROR: Offline mode specified, but directory /var/tmp/portage/eet-999/distdir/cvs-src/e17/libs/eet not found

it looks like is trying to search for distfiles on wrong path...

Maybe trying to specify at /etc.make.conf:
Code:
DISTDIR=/usr/portage/distfiles

and then make an
Code:
emerge metadata
to unsure that portage knows where distfiles are and that you have an e cvs tree...

(please note, i'm without clues, those are just shots in the dark... )

Thanks for your thoughts... but they didn't help. :(

I even tried to copy the files from /usr/portage/distfiles/cvs-src to the needed place in /var/tmp, but emerge cleans up the dirs, an then complains there isn't anything.

wtf?

Would it be easier to check out everything from the cvs and compile it without using ebuilds?

Another aproach would be quickpkg the compiled e packages and then emerge -K on laptop

richard, sure... this would be "Plan B" ;)

RuiP, the computers are very different (Athlon XP 2200+ vs. PIII Coppermine 500MHz)... isn't this a problem?
Or doesn't it matter, because the binaries run on any x86 target system?

Yes, i think so, as long as you have compiled without no specific flags for athlon they should work on PIII...
There will make no warm in try, since you got that strange problem (i'm suspect that is related to the fact that cvs tree was copied by hand and not sync so portage don't know how to deal)

Anyway, you could at least reserve to Plan C and try first "plan B".

Good luck.

Whenever I try to enable eloquence I get a segmentation fault.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I have it to, and I havent been able to fix it. Its due to a module bug, becuase I updated E17 and have the latest version, But i still get Segfaults.

From what I read I think it has to do with the mpd version on portage. There is a newer version available.

hey guys...
i'm fairly new to the e17(2 days) but with the help from the forum here i have managed to get it up and running without much problem, but ther is a troubling issue though...

i cannot create eap icons for anything using my user account(using the automated eap editor), the options of 'accept' and 'OK' does not exist, but under root these buttons are there, is this normal or did I accidentally mess up the permissions? is there any ways to work around it? Thanks in advance...

PS: just BTW, is it just me or is the documentation of get-e.org really not helpful? probably we should send them the 3 'e17 is coming' posts from this forum to replace their official docs =p

If you install the e_utils package you will get a app named e_utils_eap-something. Use this to create you eap files.

Code:
e_utils_eap-something foobar.eap

Create this files in .e/e/applications/all (I think)

Don't mention it. A sad situation (not have a linux computer around) that unfortunately happens too many times in our lives... ;)

Back on a question i put 1 or 2 pages before, does anyone have slideshow module working and setting different images per virtual desktop? I can only have it changing only first desk or changing all at the same time to the same image (boring...) I still use an old version of e_modules with slideshow works correctly, but is became too old and it won't allow me to access configuration windows (changes of apis...)

Does anyone have this problem? Can somebody suggest a solution?

thanks

You could make a small script ;) And put it on a cron job.
FYI, the commands to set the wallpaper for default is:
Code:
enlightenment_remote -default-bg-set  <edje file>
And for other desktops:
Code:
enlightenment_remote -desktop-bg-add 0 0 <row> <column> <edje file>

Fluxbox converters question:

I found any feature I like in fluxbox but one:

Is there a tabbing feature in E17?

I'm used to multiple xterm terminal emulators arranged in one place, reachable by hovering over the according part of the headline or hotkeys (you gotta love xterm in a heterogenous network when working 99% on the command line  )

hi all,
just a few e17 questions...is there any way to disable the twm mouse and use the e17 mouse crusor all the time? i get the nice gold e17 mouse when its over the background or menus, but once i'm under some none e17 application like firefox or opera i get the black and ugly twm mouse...

second question is: how do you assign icons to sub-menus? like this screenshot...and how do i modify the main menu's item, i dont have a 'modules' or a 'files' submenu by default...

Thanks in advance

I think the modules menu has been taken out, and you have to use the configuration panel. Files is now under configuration - test filemanager. I'm not sure whether that can be changed back.

I've not found a way to revert to the old version. You should get the icons if you install and run e17genmenu, and you can edit some menus using entangle. You might be able to find out more if you ask on the e-users list (subscribe from http://www.enlightenment.org). The start module just gives you an icon to click on to get the menu. Since it has the same effect as clicking on the desktop, I don't tend to bother with it.

i see...guess the devs at e are thinking about disabling the 'clicking on desktop' thing =P...
thanks alot richard...i will try entangle(i love the names that enlightenment project uses) out and if i still have quetions maybe the e-user list is where i should head to :)

thanks again...
