Hi, quicky one: installed engage e17 module with emerge engage previously added e17 block to package.keywords as told at gentoo-wiki , everything compiled fine. When start engage it shows but I see only question marks instead program icons in engage 'panel/startbar'. How to fix this. |

Just wondering if that bug with the crashing config windows is fixed yet?
It's been a few months since I last used E17 and I found it quite annoying spending 10 minutes adding a single thing to the menu.
I hear that many other people have had the same problem with the config windows just dying so maybe there's hope. |

Happens to me sometimes as well. However, I found that it I right click the corner of the Eap file I want to remove and then drag it around, It tends to crash on me a lot less. _________________ Registered Linux User #387568

I can not beleive this. Am I the only one who cant get the Evolume module to work? I can install it, but not load it. Its seriously annoying.
@Templer-Nice screenshot BTW, looks very nice. _________________ Registered Linux User #387568

@Varean:
did you already try what I recommended in this post below (quoted from the last page in the thread)? I didn't see you reply to it... if it didn't work, what happened?
jxn wrote: | Varean wrote: | I type it in (as user) and I get an error which says the directory doesn't exist, should I create it then? |
I think I had the directory wrong... try this:
Code: | enlightenment_remote -module-load /usr/lib/enlightenment/modules_extra/evolume/linux-gnu-i686/module.so |
that should do it... |

Make sure you have the right dependencies for it too. I had some trouble myself.
It needs libe(volume or sound or something) which I think comes with esound.
But when I installed e16 it put in esound with it and evolume suddenly worked so if it's not already installed try emerging esound and THEN use the command said above. |

I tried doing that before and it didn't work, but I will try it again becuase I just updated my CVS and I think that I might have messed up the directories. _________________ Registered Linux User #387568

evidence, being a separate sf.net project from enlightenment, is not mirrored by the new cvs mirror. You can't get evidence anywhere but from sourceforge, as far as I know. _________________ My Last.fm profile | get e17! |

If you can't get it from sourceforge cvs, there's probably no way to get it at all (other than the non "-*" flagged version, which I would be surprised if you could get it to even compile against the cvs libs).
keep trying the sf.net cvs servers, otherwise, you're probably out of luck. There are a few other e17 file managers in cvs, though -- efm and entropy. (efm is a part of e itself). _________________ My Last.fm profile | get e17! |

I just decided not to emerge evidence for now, but I can't get into Enlightenment. I followed the how to, and entrance works, but when I try to get into Enlightenment, the screen flickers, and then goes back to the entrance login.
This is from the how to:
First, create /etc/X11/Sessions/e17 containing the following: (don't forget to chmod +x !)
File: /etc/X11/Sessions/e17
#!/bin/sh
/usr/bin/enlightenment-0.17
What does it mean when it says chmod +x?
Thanks |

Run "chmod +x /etc/X11/Sessions/e17" from a shell prompt (command line).
This command is the "change mode" command, passing "+x" means to make the e17 file, "executable". |

i had the same responce but my code was:

so it just gave the same error again... anyone know how to fix?

@bullring
Does this happen when you try to launch the engage from within e17? This type of error is typically spewed out by enlightenment_remote, when you try to use enlightenment_remote from some other WM/DE. |

I don't think it matters I tried both ways and get the same error.
Code: | ERROR: Enlightenment_remote cannot set up the IPC socket.
Maybe try the '-display :0.0' option? |

for you guys interested in checkin e17 out but not going thru the install, there's the elivecd (elivecd.org). basically a debian based distro with e17 (also has 16, but i dunno why you'd want to use 16). it has the option to install to the drive straight from the livecd, but saying to install debian while on the gentoo forums is basically blasphemy. |
