ok, so my /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 code has got only this in it:
Code:
3c59x
. Nothing else.... although i (thought) thats all the tutorial said to do. But when i boot it says it failed to load 3c59x. Does anyone know what i have to do to fix this?

Post any other probs you experience to your orig. post that way you dont spam the forum. :) ( i only mention because of 4 new posts within 30 mins)
As for this question you just need to add a # before the module to keep it from loading or just backspace it out.
It's just there to show as an example as how to list the modules, its not something you need to load in your case.

do you have a 3com network card if so use 3c59x, if not dont use it. you have to find out what kind of network card you have and load the corresponding module. you can find out your network card by booting to the livecd and running
Code:
lspci

and to see which module you would use for it do
Code:
lsmod | less

if you cant figure it out then please post the output of each command in this thread
hope this helped

Maybe this helps: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-395346-highlight-rcupdate+modules.html
Or it could be as simple as an rc-update add modules default
