I had some spare time and decided it's time for smaller console font. So I recompiled kernel adding necessary options and so on. But something is weird. Every time it boots up - doesn't matter what I put in grub.conf - I have too small fonts (too high res) and fbset spits out:
Code:

mode "1280x1024-85"
    # D: 157.505 MHz, H: 91.149 kHz, V: 85.027 Hz
    geometry 1280 1024 1280 1024 8
    timings 6349 224 64 44 1 160 3
    hsync high
    vsync high
    rgba 8/0,8/0,8/0,0/0
endmode

I really would like to know where it takes it from.
This is getting a little frustrating. Even more frustrating is I'm unable to google out tutorials or howtos. All I've found so far is about choosing kernel options with little endnote: put it in kernel command line. What I'd love to find is something like "framebuffer for dummies". Any pointers or tips are more than welcome.
