I tried emerging plptools. This worked very nice on Gentoo-x86 but now I'm trying it on Gentoo-amd64 (identical machine).
I had to add
Code:
app-pda/plptools ~x86
to /etc/portage/package.keywords to be able to emerge it.

This is the error I got:

Code:
saruman ~ # emerge plptools

I don't know anything about the software, but it is not promised on amd64. (You had to add the ~x86 keyword to emerge it.) Software that compiles and works on x86 doesn't necessarily compile and work on amd64.

That I know. But I'm faced with the reality that I have an AMD64 running Gentoo, and a Psion Revo, and that I would like to have some means to backup the little bugger, thank you very much.

Meanwhile I saw on Sourceforge that there is a version 0.14 since August 28, 2005. Is making an ebuild difficult?

EDIT: I'm thinking about hacking up a plptools ebuild for ~amd64 myself. Where should I document that? Here on this forum or in bugzilla or somewhere else?

New ebuilds and ebuild enhancements need to go in bugzilla.
