What kernel source would I need in order to install Gentoo on a box with a 2.0 GHz Intel Xeon Processor. Would the needed kernel source be equivalent to the Pentium 4 sources?
Thanks

Good old Gentoo-sources will do just fine. _________________ It would be more interesting to learn from children, than try to teach them how to behave, how to live and how to function. - U.G. Krishnamurti |

I'm more or less referencing the arch that I need to pull down from the server on the initial install |

P4 & then choose P4 Xeon arch in kernel config. _________________ 1st use 'Search' & lastly add [Solved] to

A 2.0 Xeon is not an EM64T processor, so a standard Pentium4 build is what you need.
Pull down x86 arch Pentium4 stage tarball and you will be good to go. I've tried building 32-bit Gentoo into a Xeon with both i686 and x86 stages in a vain attempt to tweak the install and x86 worked better for me. I did not try the Pentium4 arch because there isn't a stage 1 tarball. |
