|
|
I have a home network set up as follows:
Router Netgear WGR614 820.11g router
192.168.1.1 on the wifi network
Shadowcat imap server, web server, ssh server, smtp server
192.168.1.8 on the wifi network
192.168.2.1 on a cross connect cable
Iceman client
192.168.2.4 on the cross connect cable to Shadowcat
Gambit client
192.168.1.200 on the wifi network
All are fairly up to date gentoo boxes.
From iceman, I can connect to shadowcat on imap, www, ssh, and smtp. From shadowcat, I can connect on all four as well. From gambit, I can connect to the www & ssh servers, but not to the imap and smtp servers. I also cannot ping from that machine.
I looked under my router's settings and don't see a place where it is blocking the connectivity.
Any suggestions?

Is the problem with the application software, not the network - i.e. is postfix 'relay_domains' or similar restricted to the 192.168.2.* network, and ignoring the wifi? |

I'm running exim as my mail server.
I have these two set in exim.conf
Code: | domainlist relay_to_domains =
hostlist relay_from_hosts = 127.0.0.1 : 192.168.1.0/16 : 192.168.2.0/16 |
I was suspicious of the network before one of the servers, because the client that cannot access imap cannot ping either, but the client that can access imap can ping. So two servers are unreachable from this host.
But...shouldn't squirrelmail, which is running under apache on the same machine as imap, be connecting from the apache machine, not the firefox machine? |

DUH! I forgot to add an access rule to iptables.
Everything is spiffy now. |
