Salve a tutti,sono nuovo del mondo gentoo...ma non del mondo linux,da qualche anno utilizzo linux in ambiente desktop e mi sono trovato sempre bene.
Da qualche settimana sono passato alla gentoo,e devo dire che e' davvero una bella distro 
Comunque passiamo subito al mio problema,non riesco a sfruttare a pieno il masterizzatore.
Possiedo un Pioneer DVR 106D(un tempo era un teac  )che masterizza(va) i cd max 16x e i dvd a 4x.
Ma da quando ho provato a masterizzare sulla gentoo mi sono schiantato contro un muro,i cd vengono masterizzati max 4x e i dvd a 1x  ,sulla fedora non ho mai avuto problemi di velocita',e nemmeno su winzoz,quindi credo sia un problema di configurazione, ma non riesco a capire da cosa posso dipendere il problema 
Potete darmi una mano?

il DMA è attivato sul tuo masterizzatore?
questa cosa succede anche con l'utente root? |

Ho provato a controllare e...
# hdparm /dev/hdc
/dev/hdc:
IO_support = 0 (default 16-bit)
unmaskirq = 0 (off)
using_dma = 0 (off)
keepsettings = 0 (off)
readonly = 0 (off)
readahead = 256 (on)
HDIO_GETGEO failed: Invalid argument
non e' abilitato, cosi ho provato ad abilitarlo
# hdparm -d1 /dev/hdc
/dev/hdc:
setting using_dma to 1 (on)
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
using_dma = 0 (off)
la faccenda si complica

Anche da root non funziona,probabilmente e' un problema del dma, domani provo a cercare qualcosa sul forum

hai provato ad attivare il dma come root? e hai abilitato nel kernel il supporto al tuo chipset? |

Risolto, bisognava impostare il modulo del chipset come built-in(nel mio caso ali 15x3).
Ora il masterizzatore(e non solo) funziona alla grande 
Per settare l'hdparm ho trovato un ottima guida nel wiki
