One I can use with aMsn that can play most all types of files, and not bring up a window when it plays a sound.
Any ideas? aplay doesn't seem to work.

you might be interested in mpd, the music player daemon
it alone only is a server application, but you can use one of the clients such as ncmpc with an ncurses interface.
there also is a client which you can use from the shell instantly
there are php- and gui (gtk/qt) based clients aswell.
ps: oops, didnt see the aMsn thing, im not sure if those would work together, sorry |

Don't forget the infamous mpg321, it only plays mp3 buts that's pretty much all I have. _________________ "After all, a person's a person, no matter how small."--Horton Hears A Who! |

cmus is one of the most consistently underrated CLI music players out there. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a command line sound player. _________________ Happy vimming! |
