so ive made an upgrade from dev-php/php-4.4.0-xx to dev-lang/php-4.4.1-xx as was described in an appropriate gentoo handbook document.

during the setup, it asked me to add some more USE flags so that all the requirements could be met. it also said something about turning on "threads" USE flag if its off or vice versa, so i added this one as well (im using gentoo just for localhost stuff) but then it asked me to reinstall apache2 with one of the mpm-* keywords. after i did that and it kept asking me, i just turned the "threads" USE flag again and after a couple more USE flags additions, it started to install as expected.

the problem is this:

i have two hosts set up in /etc/hosts. one is a regular localhost and the additional one is called gforge and it points to /var/www/gforge/htdocs/. there were no problems with that before. gforge has its own httpd.conf file which is included into the apache2's one.

after i reinstalled apache2, it said i need to update the changed /etc* files but as the updated apache2/httpd.conf file had no radical changes, i just put back the previous one.

before ive updated php and apache, everytime i browsed to http://gforge/, it showed just the expected stuff - in other words, it worked. now, after the reinstall, it just tries to do something for like 0.1s and then it goes back to the state "Done". ive checked everything that came up to my mind what could have to do something with this.. no success :(

anyone has an idea what might be the reason for this and/or any solution or stuff i should take a look at?

thanks in advance
