To install portage over the internet?
1. First I would create a directory /mnt/gentoo/usr
2. Second download the snapshot from one of the mirrors.
3. tar the file in that directory
is this the right process? because on the website, its say how to get portage from the cd but I'm not using the cd..any help would be great...thanks _________________ harushimo |

When you extract the Stage tarball it should automatically creat the usr directory under /mnt/gentoo. You shouldn't need to make it yourself. So, just dl it and extract into /mnt/gentoo/usr. |

u can use links2
Code: | links2 http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors.xml |
then just download from any mirror and then
Code: | tar -xvjf /mnt/cdrom/snapshots/portage-<date>.tar.bz2 -C /mnt/gentoo/usr |
you should already have /mnt/gentoo/usr if you extracted a tarball
