Just started using XFCE to try something different then Fluxbox and really like it, but there are some very annoying quirks I've seen that seem to be nvidia related with XFCE...
1) Playing games full screen - Not limited to games but most noticable. I run gKrellm and everytime there is an update to the krell a black box 'bleeds' through to whatever is on top of it and since the krells updated over once per second it's constantly flashing. I've also seen this effect if there are animated gifs on a webpage and there is another window over it.
2) Video playback shows through windows - When playing a video with mplayer or xine and a window is placed over the video the entire video minus the window theme shows through, simular to the flashing black boxed but the video play unaffected.
3) Scroll wheel focuses window - This is more of a general xorg annoyance, in other DM's you can use the scroll wheel on an unfocused window to scroll, but with XFCE when doing this it forces the window forward into focus. Everything else is good, but I like being able to scroll a page while keeping another window in focus so I can easily see both of them without having to bounce between them.
I couldn't find anything about these issues and am hopeing someone knows an easy fix for them, or it's back to fluxbox for me (which is still my prefered DM ) |

If you want to fix this, stop using composite. |

Thanks, I had a feeling that might have been it but was hopeing that wasn't the solution
I don't remember xcomposite doing that under fluxbox at all, but that might be because it crashes when an opengl app is run full screen (screensaver or games usually) and since xfce uses it's own xcomposite module it's hard to compare
Do you or anyone know if someone is working on fixing this 'bug'? Would be nice since that little module makes the desktop just look a little nicer, but having it work is more important to me
How do you turn off xcomposite without removing the extension from xorg.conf? |
