When I run the following command
I get the following output
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking hg2-1.0b-cdrom-x86.run to /var/tmp/portage/heavygear2-1.0b/work
>>> Source unpacked.
>>> Test phase [not enabled]: games-action/heavygear2-1.0b
>>> Install heavygear2-1.0b into /var/tmp/portage/heavygear2-1.0b/image/ category games-action

!!! ERROR: games-action/heavygear2-1.0b failed.
What's strange is that I have my own Heavy Gear II CD, and it does find the CD, but there are no files like
bin/x86/glibc-2.1/hg2
on there...
My CD is an original, from Activision, so what is wrong?
Thanks in advance.

It's a doze copy? You need the copy from loki games. I have it, if you wanna buy it for cheap, lemme know (PM me). Alternatively, tuxgames might want your left arm for it...
What's inflation there? Iforget, I know for postal 2, it was 100% over buying it directly from the manufacter, even though it was STILL the linux specific version... _________________ CPU: 3800+ X2 (2.5Ghz)

linuxgames.com doesn't sell it, tuxgames.com sells it for $25 dollars, which is not a ridiculous amount. |

Considering I bought it for 10 new, I'd say so. (and from a local vendor that probably buys from tuxgames)
I'm all for supporting linux gaming and all, but hell, they need to fix thier pricing. No way in hell I'm paying double the price to supposedly "support linux gaming" when I can buy the linux versions elsewhere. _________________ CPU: 3800+ X2 (2.5Ghz)

It is not unreasonable to pay 25 dollars for a game, tuxgames resells but only to other online vendors. Your local folks got theirs cheap when Loki died and bled games for ridiculously cheap prices. I'm not suggesting you pay more than you can find it for, but certainly do not complain when the only option for someone else is to buy it at this price. It is a very good game, I paid more than $25 for it, new. I would pay more than $25 for it again. |

I would if it was the only option, but thier inflation is atrocious. That is indisputable. _________________ CPU: 3800+ X2 (2.5Ghz)

This is not inflation!
The price has dropped since I bought it! |

Um... when I refer to inflation (and let's not be childish and argue over syntax, I apologize if it was the wrong word to use), I mean price increase over normal pricing at other vendors (normal being the average acrossed sane and reputable vendors). For example, VoodooPC probably has as much as a 200% price inflation. Apparently a name goes that far...
Where as tux games...
Well here's the postal 2 example:
http://www.tuxgames.com/details.cgi?nc=1131689322&gameref=125
http://www.gopostal.com/store/postal2stp_Linux.php
Literally, a 100% increase in price. THAT IS INFLATION LOLZORZ!10101
Not as drastic, but:
http://www.tuxgames.com/details.cgi?nc=1131689394&gameref=128
http://www.darwinia.co.uk/
Again, another price increase. Why the hell do they think they can pull off selling it higher than the guys making the game? Demographics be damned, you simply can't argue against paying on average 10$ less per game. Oh, shipping should be less in some people's case as I remember something to the effect of tuxgamaes not being in america? Granted, some game producers aren't either...
Tell you what zakk, show me a game that tuxgames sells that is not available anywhere else at a cheaper price elsewhere. _________________ CPU: 3800+ X2 (2.5Ghz)

This is what tuxgames paid for the game, buy it from elsewhere online if you can find it cheaper for the Linux version. Don't do it, emulate in cedega, eat a whole box of twinkies. I don't care. This person wants heavy gear 2. As far as I know, there is only one place online that has it, tuxgames.com. I don't make money from anyone going to tuxgames.com through the regular url. I don't care if he gets it from somewhere else as long as it isn't warezed, or emulated. |

Google rocks!
No clue about linuxcentral as I've never bought there but I've never gotten screwed with amazon. Oh, and both vendors are more than half the price of TuxGames. Imagine that! As for tuxgames paying that much or even near that much for the titles, I don't beleive it for a second. And as for the local vendor lapping up the old games... well, it was some time before loki died (maybe that's the case, but meh, I seriously doubt you know jay or his business, as i live locally and don't know him more than a passing purchase and service). _________________ CPU: 3800+ X2 (2.5Ghz)
