|
|
Hi!
I have never burned CDs or DVDs in linux, let alone Gentoo, so please excuse my ignorance
I've got a Dell Inspiron 6000 and, according to XP, the DVD burner is a "NEC DVD+-RW ND-6650A"
I thought setting up the DVD burner would be as simple as emerging k3b but I must be way off because
k3b isn't detecting the device.
My fstab has a mount point for /mnt/cdrom and I am able to browse CDs without a hitch. Am I
supposed to change the "ro" option in the fstab file?
My problem is that I have absolutely no clue on how to set up k3b so that it detects that "/mnt/cdroms" is
actually capable of burning DVDs as well.
If someone could point me in the direction of a guide / tutorial / howto, I would appreciate it
greatly. I'm using kernel "suspend2-2.6.13-r4"
Thanks,
Kristy

It's working! I found out from Chade (freenode #gentoo) that the options in my kernel that deal with SCSI Emulation and ATA/ATAPI/MFM/RLL need to be enabled.
Once I recompiled my kernel, k3b detected the drive without a hitch
Thanks a bunch Chade! _________________ Knowledge is a process of piling up facts; wisdom lies in their simplification. [Martin Fischer] |
