Within the first 30 seconds of bootstrap.sh, I heard lots of beeps, then something was written on the screen, with each line starting with an *. I didnt get a chance to see what it said, because the script continued and something new filled the screen. Was it important?

If it is, ermmm... don't worry about it? he he. Seriously though, I don't remember seeing that problem before - although I have had other bootstrapping issues - with older versions of Gentoo, anyhow.
It's really too bad you're unable to provide more information... but, I guess it speeds along... oh well.
