|
|
i own a 'targa traveller 811'. the company 'targa' supports only microsoft windows (who is suprised).
for a few month i spend a lot of time to get s3 working and since then i used suspend-to-ram with full satisfaction with kernel 2.6.12-gentoo-r10 (kernel from gentoo-sources with my own configuration).
because of an update to version 2.6.14-gentoo-r2 the screen keeps blank / black / off after wake up from s3. i changed nothing in the kernel confiuration (except the new functions - make oldconfig...).
where can be the problem?
does somebody know what could be responsible for this? _________________ --- sorry for the bad english --- |

What options you passed to kernel? Is the keyboard still working? |

Reset video with vbetool or video_post
|
vbetool vbestate save > ...
vbetool vbestate restore < ...
does not help.
it worked for my 2.6.12-gentoo-r10 kernel, but not for the 2.6.14-gentoo-r2

You can also try kernel option acpi_sleep=s3bios,s3mode.
|
i tested it with a lot of kernel parameters (also with acpi_sleep=s3bios,s3mode)
i am confused, because it worked with the 'old' kernel and not with the 'new'
the lcd is not only black, it is without any light (i do not know, how i should say...). it seems, that rhe power connection is not re-established. _________________ --- sorry for the bad english --- |

Did you try video_post too? Also try switching virtual terminals with chvt. |

i tested the 'video-post_0.1.orig.tar.gz' after a wake up - it did not help.
if i start the utility under working system, the screen goes also blank and the system hangs. _________________ --- sorry for the bad english --- |

I cannot think anything else. Maybe you should go back to previous kernel version.
You could try noapic or pci=noacpi options but I don't think they will make any difference. |

UPDATE: I have similar problems using 2.6.14-gentoo-r2 kernel. Removing kernel option
acpi_sleep=s3_bios,s3_mode seems to help in my case.
Also try swithing to text console using chvt, suspend, and then switch back to X with chvt 7. |
