In case anybody else is having trouble getting ndiswrapper to install on Gentoo:
I wasn't able to get ndiswrapper to install by emerging the Gentoo package, so I finally downloaded the source and installed it manually. I followed directions for installing the Windows driver that corresponds to my wifi pcmcia card, and all went well. (I had a head start since I had already done this with Slackware and FreeBSD, so I wasn't entirely clueless, just partially so.)
I usually don't venture off the Gentoo path, since I figure it's best to keep my system as close to Gentoo "standard" as possible. However, in this case, I'm glad I did. Plus, I was able to use ndiswrapper with my Con Kolivas 2.6.14 kernel, which the Gentoo ndiswrapper package apparently won't work with. |

Looking at /usr/portage/net-wireless/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper-1.5.ebuild, I don't see a big difference to compiling manually. Maybe Gentoo's "suspend2" patch is to blame. _________________ Improve your font rendering and ALSA sound |
