My IP was 192.168.0.3 previously. I reinstalled and it's 192.168.0.7. I connect to my DSL gateway on 192.168.0.1. The thing is, why did it change? And is there any way I can get back .3? I'm using DHCP. I've never setup network any other way because I'm not really familiar.

Could someone please help? Thanks.

Assuming your DSL gateway is the DHCP/router you'll need to get on the admin interface for that and take a look. Mine can reserve IPs for certain machines.

Mine doesn't seem to have that feature. It's an Actiontec 1524.

That's a pretty basic device and you seem to be limited to DHCP On or Off. You'd have to consider turning it off and doing DHCP on your Gentoo machine versus static IPs. You could move the start address to .10 and give the Gentoo a static lower than that.
