I started this thread about 5 months ago and dosbox has been running fine for me on a dual opterton -- until now.
(I don't run it frequently.) Just recently it has started sleeping (lazy dos). Sometimes just ordinary sleep and sometimes uninterruptible sleep. I'm running kernel 2.6.16-gentoo-r1 and dosbox-0.65. Any ideas on why it wants to sleep? Any ideas on how to wake it up would also be most welcome. Thanks

A bit more detail. Just typing dosbox puts it into uninterruptible sleep. So the problem is in the start up. I'm getting the following messages after the start Quote: | CONFIG:Loading settings from config file dosbox.conf
MIDI:Opened device:none | which seems to be innocuous. It used to start right up. I've been through the documentation at http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/wiki/ and tried to get everything out of the configuration file that might slow things down or cause a problem. |

At line 1276 of sdlmain.cpp there is a statement Quote: | if ( SDL_Init( SDL_INIT_AUDIO|SDL_INIT_VIDEO|SDL_INIT_TIMER|SDL_INIT_CDROM
|SDL_INIT_NOPARACHUTE | Removing "|SDL_INIT_CDROM" gets rid if the problem.
Discovering this got me out of the portage system which I would prefer not to do. Is there some way to get this setup in way that it could be done through portage? Thanks,
Fred |
