i had problems using the gnome-applet of linphone.
i've emerged linphone (with gnome useflag) but in the panel applet chooser there was no linphone entry.

so i searched the net (and this forum) for help, but it seems, no one else misses this feature...

i decided to find out why its not working like i expected although it seemed that all files necessary were installed:
/usr/libexec/linphone_applet i.e....

i've compared several rpm-files (ftp.suse.com / rpmfind.net) with the output of "equery f linphone" and there is mostly one difference: there is a bonobo server object in most rpms but not installed by the ebuild.

so i copied this GNOME_LinphoneApplet.server-file to /usr/lib/bonobo/servers/ (some changes needed (executable/picture)) and... now its working.

i'm shure this is just a very bad workaround. if someone has a better solution, please mail here. if someone has the same problem and wants to know more about my workaround. please mail me, too.

Hi,
i use linphone and i have the same problem... it's very important that we can have the linphone applet, in this way i see the call in my applet bar.

Anyone that can modding the gentoo ebuild?

Thanks a lot.

maybe someone can file a bug report if there are more users having this problem.

for a possible workaround i post my solution:
... no i wont do this, because i just found a better one.

i've found the missing file is already due, just making a symbolic link should help:
ln -s /usr/lib/linphone/bonobo/servers/GNOME_LinphoneApplet.server /usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_LinphoneApplet.server
