Modifying the LiveCD

Hi,
as some of you might have read my laptop hangs at usb and pci hotplug start when installing from the 1.4_rc3 livecd (no, i cannot disable usb in the bios). Now I wonder if i lets say compiled the latest kernel (something like 2.5x) on another linux machine, would I be able to get that on a livecd? How would one do that?

Moving the thread from Installing Gentoo to Other Things Gentoo. Also please have a look at this thread. If that thread doesn't do it try searching there have been many threads regarding how to do this.
