This may be a noob question...
Why does evolution-data-server sometimes respawn after it is killed (and sometimes not)?
I generally try to keep my number of running processes at a minimum (I average ~120 as it is). Part of doing so is to do an "evolution --force-shutdown" after closing evolution. About a quarter of the time it leaves evolution-data-server running. Killing it just causes it to respawn.
This isn't a big deal, but it is annoying.
Why is this not consistent? Aside from rebooting, how can it be killed without it respawning? |

Are you running Gnome? EDS is used by the calendar widget (if configured) to show appt's. |

Bingo.
Come to think of it I do pull down the calendar applet every once in a while. That would explain why I can sometimes kill eds and other times not.
Thanks. |
