I've been assigned the task of maintaining a computer lab full of Linux computers for the Computer Science department at my school. Every computer in the lab is a LInux computer, and it's the only LInux lab we have on campus. I'd like to set up pam_ldap so that users can just user their network name/password to get onto the lab computers...taht's not a difficult task pretty straightforward according to the documentation that the module has with it. Every student has a network share for storing documents, what I'd like to be able to do with this lab is create a folder under each person's network share (Their H: Drive over Samba....ironically our network admins use FreeBSD and Samba for all the serverside stuff, so they've been very helpful) called ~linuxlab or something...which woudl be hidden to Windows computers, but that would serve as the user's linux lab directory. That way, they can save files there and keep their KDE/gnome settings from one lab computer to the next. I'd like to know how this would be possible, any ideas, I've kicked around a few ideas, but most of them involve having the user enter their network password twice (once for LDAP, then a script would promt them to mount their SAMBA shares...) not sure, though. Any suggested books on the subject...or any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thx!

It's hard to say...

Does your samba server uses /home/username ? Then you could use LDAP + NFS and simply have them automatically in their Samba's /home/username on the fileserver ?

So they would login with LDAP, and as /home/ is mounted with NFS on the file server they would be automatically in their home folder (the same Samba uses?)
