|
|
Hi
I installed ati-drivers.
- Glxinfo shows:"Direct Rendering: Yes"
- X.logs contains: "DRI successfuly installed"
- etc. Everything seems to be OK.
But when i run 3D app then X process is eating CPU (70%, 80%).. Games are not playable, moving mouse is very hard... How to fix this?
I tried:
- ati-drivers 8.14.13-r3, 8.19.10 - the second gives higher FPS, but main problem stays
I have kernel 2.6.14-gentoo-r2. X11:
xorg-x11-6.8.2-r4 -3dfx -3dnow +bitmap-fonts -cjk -debug -dlloader
+dmx -doc +font-server -insecure-drivers +ipv6 -minimal +mmx +nls
-nocxx +opengl +pam -sdk +sse -static +truetype-fonts +type1-fonts
(-uclibc) -xprint +xv
Regards

are you trying to use composite?
I tried using Composite on my 9600XT and it made X's cpu usage go through the roof.
I'd also suggest you stick with the 8.19.10 drivers, I find them soo much better than the old ones _________________ Admiral Trigger Happy
