openldap is not working after a reboot. That is, the other servers cannot connect. I decided to update to the latest (2.2) to see if that would solve it. The ebuild fails with instructions for backing up, which sounds like a good idea. The second step where you use slapcat to export the ldif data, hangs. I ran slapcat by itself (ie without -l) and it quickly prints out data (I am not sure if it is all my records or not) and then hangs. It never exits. I guess thats why my ldif file is never created.

What can I do to get slapcat to finish writing my data so I can move on?

Thanks

Solved
I ran db4.1_recover in /var/lib/ldap and that allowed slapcat to run.
