Hi I"m setting up a gentoo box in my office as a replacement for my windows box.
I need to be able to browse for other linux machines on the network and graphically log
into them, on windows I use X-manager to manage the tasks, these machines have X forwarding
enabled, I am currently installing kde after which I'll emerge lisa.
Another issue I have is the whole networks on DHCP, what do I need to setup to enable myself to
use the computers hostname instead of the dynamic ip everytime.
Please any help will be greatly appreciated.

Well, I think this could be related with the DHCP server ..
Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but the DHCP server get the hostname of the machine it attribute a IP ? Would'nt it be possible to resolve it with the help of the DHCP server ? I'll make searches later, it's late here :P

So far, the only thing i saw related to a second DHCP server is a "rogue server", but it's seem to be a hacker method to penetrate an do actions on a network.

Google search: http://www.google.ca/search?hs=ZtJ&hl=fr&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Afr%3Aofficial&q=how+to+rogue+dhcp+server&btnG=Rechercher&meta=

I'll continue the research after the meal :P
