I've been running my system on a gentoo 2.6.12 kernel, but i recently accquired multiple new computers so i attempted to install the current mosix sources 2.4.30-r3. I thought i might be able to keep all the same software, but on bootup the kernel panics and cannot find my root device which is /dev/sdb1 clearly it is the second SATA drive on my system, why? Does it have anything to do with a udev vs. devfs system? how might I get this to work. Thanks for the replies ahead of time. |

Sorry, but downgrading your current system from 2.6 to 2.4 is a more or less a no-go... Bad idea indeed. |

If you're not afraid of patching your kernel sources, you could try http://openmosix.sourceforge.net/
They have 2.6 kernel cvs sources. |
