Google's first result for Gentoo Mutt guide returned: QuickStart Guide to Mutt E-Mail. Hope that helps. _________________ ~~ Peter: Programmer, Mathematician, STEM & Free Software Advocate, Enlightened Agent, Transhumanist, Fedora contributor

The guide says to use nbsmtp, but no matter how many times I try to unmerge ssmtp (a blocking ebuild), it's still blocked. How would I configure ssmtp as an alternative?
Also, I'm intending to use this with Gmail. Are there any precautions I should take? |

Try this. Scroll to the bottom for ssmtp info.

What sort of precautions did you have in mind? Make sure gMail is set up for POP3 via SSL, and all the other good stuff they (Google) have on their POP3 help page. All should be peachy _________________ monjoy |

The following fetchmailrc results in nothing after the first line (version number, URL, time, "poll started"): Code: | poll main.google.com protocol pop3 user "(ADDRESS)" password "(PASSWORD)" ssl | Even with the proper port it gets a timeout. |

Hi Kenji,
I use pop.gmail.com instead of main.google.com and it works well with fetchmail, I have the same line as yours except the server, so try that and post your results. |

Is there a list of options for the .muttrc? If not, how do I sort messages at startup? Also, what is the default binding for returning to the main screen with each mailbox? |

Edit: Hit the 'submit' button by mistake, again.
Also, My First Mutt is a great resource. _________________ monjoy |

My last problem is how it doesn't display every mailbox, only the "=default". How do I change this behavior?
As for fetchmail, does the init script work for all users, or just root? If I replaced /etc/fetchmailrc (used in it) with my ~/.fetchmailrc, would it try to place mail in root's directory? |
