I upgraded my system today (whole gnome 2.0 -> 2.2, evolution ... 80 packages total). When I try to create a new mail in evolution it complains (translated this from german):

Quote:
the editor window cannot be created. html-editor component cannot be activated. please ensure that the correct gtkhtml- and libgtkhtml version are installed.

installed are (rsync done):
gtkhtml 1.1.7-r1
libgtkhtml 2.2.0

any ideas? I would like so write some email ;)

Hi,

I'm having the same problem ,but i didn't update evolution,
I just update the rest of the packages on my system, and 'gal' is the only thing that seems to be related to the problem.

Damn, seems like I can't get out of re-emerging evolution ...

Re-emerging evolution did not change anything. :(
I think gtk2 maybe the reason, since I changed this USE flag before updating. I just don't know which packages are effected by this.

I had the same problem. Re-emerging gtkhtml fixed it. I think it got borked in the glibc upgrade.

Well ... I had to bite the bullet & update my evolution

Going from evo 1.2.1 -> 1.2.2 fixed a bunch of problems I had with 1.2.1 after emerging gal-0.23 (startup error etc...), but it didn't solve the problem of creating new messages.
At least the error message was more to the point this time (can't create new message, problem with gtkhtml or libgtkhtml blah ... blah ...).

After re-emerging gtkhtml and libgtkhtml, no update, just re-emerge, everything is quite ok.

My guess is that the new gal broke my old evo-1.2.1 (the start-up problems) and also broke something in gtkhtml and/or libgtkhtml.

So if the problem is just in creating a new message, re-emerging these 2 should solve it.
