|
|
I just emerged Xfree 4.3.0-r1, and when I start X it craps out and gives me the following error:
Quote: | ERROR: No shape extension! This is BAD! |
What's going on here? There is a file /usr/X11R6/include/X11/extensions/shape.h, so I thought maybe it would work if I put "Load shape" into my XF86Config file, but I get this in the log:
Quote: |
(II) LoadModule: "shape"
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module shape
(II) UnloadModule: "shape"
(EE) Failed to load module "shape" (module does not exist, 0)
|
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Are you, by chance, using Enlightenment 17? I did a quick google on the error you listed and it seems to be an e17 specific error. Maybe I'm wrong and just no one has seen this yet with the new Xfree, and maybe Xfree and e17 have the EXACT same error -- but that's just maybe.
I tried searching our forums breifly and didn't find anything that looked exactly like what you are reporting here.
Maybe some more information would be helpful?

The error is in fact ocurring when I try to run e17, but I don't think that that is the problem.

Looking through other posts where people have posted this log, everybody else has a line in which SHAPE is initialized, usually its the first thing, right before MIT-SHM. On my system, as you can see, that isn't the case.
Unfortunately I don't know that there is much more information that I can provide. At the moment I'm trying to re-emerge xfree, just in case there was some kind of fluke the first time, never know...
