Is there a way to get CMSS working with sound?
I have a 24-bit Creative Sound Blaster Live USB External drive with CMSS, but it's not turning on, and pressing the CMSS button doesn't turn it on. I was curious if there was some way to get it to work? Especially with XMMS. I can have 2 speakers going at a time, and that rather makes my other 3, not counting my subwoofer, useless.
Using the 2.6.14-gentoo-r2 kernel, with ALSA, of course. I got it configured to run just fine and everything (after some stumbling at why it was playing using my on-board, but I was able to figure that much out). So, now, just curious, if there's a way, how I would go about enabling CMSS.
Thanks!

Upon further looking, I'm still troubled, but I found what may be closer to the source of the problem...
I did alsamixer for that card, and all that showed up was PCM until I hit F5 and then PCM Capture showed up.
If I look at alsamixer for my onboard VIA chip, I get all the surround stuff that apparently would be useful, even if it's not the CMSS. And after lookin', it'd give me all I really care for any more with the CMSS, anyway. At the current point, overall, however, only have 2 speakers working out of what should be 5 (plus a subwoofer which isn't doin' anything right now, either), is pathetic. CMSS is nice, but I really wouldn't mind just havin' the surround up and going!
So, is there even just a way to get this working to surround sound?! |

Just bumpin' this up, 'cause I'd really like to at least get my sub workin' -- sound is so much better with the subwoofer..
btw, my configurations all are basically the same as in http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Install_Creative_Sound_Blaster_Live_24-bit_external_(usb) . Only differnce is that my sound card is card 1 not card 0, which is a real easy fix.
Don't know if that'll help at all, but I figured I'd say it, just incase it might.
Thanks! |
