minding my own business ( as you do) and my PC spontaneaosly rebooted.
It then did
Quote:
uncompressing linux
crc error
system halted

and goes no further.

Going back to it after a few minutes it started and got as far a root login. I was in the process of scp-ing a load of stuff off.It got part of the way through and then

Kernel Panic mot syncing :CPU context corrupt


So what has died and should be replaced ?

It may be a CPU breakdown due to overheat or something. Is your cooler working well?

thats overheating "machine check exception" really bad too.

of course you could always turn it off...

no don't im jk. cpus need heatsinks and the hole thing need air to it.
