|
|
Does anyone know how I can get rid of the following:
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.20-gentoo-r1/kernel/drivers/char/drm/sis.o
depmod: sis_malloc_Ra3329ed5
depmod: sis_free_Rced25333
I have installed 1.4rc3 on an asus p4s533 mobo with p4 2.2 Ghz.
The asus mobo uses an sis chipset.
I have smp turned off.
What can I do next? |

Since you are using a SiS board you should also be sure to disable APIC support. Which is the Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller, this basically doubles the effective number of IRQ's your system will have. Apparently the kernel has some trouble with the SiS implementation of APIC.
APIC is not to be confused with ACPI which is the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface. You can use ACPI support just fine with your SiS board (I'm doing it myself) which will allow you to soft-power off your system and other power-saving sorts of features. Also with that board do not use any APM options given they are the older power control method that has since been replaced by ACPI.
Does this have anything at all to do with your problem though? I have no idea! You can give it a shot if you were including support for APIC. Try disabling APIC support to see if that helps any, especially since you won't want it anyway (well you may want it, but it will cause you trouble with a SiS board.) Hopefully someone else will have seen this before and will chime in. Also I will try to search the forums more extensively to see if there are any relevant threads related to this.
