Cursor keys in oowriter2

I have installed openoffice-bin 2.0.0, but I have problems positioning the cursor in oowriter2.
The cursor keys nor home/end do not move the cursor. I can write and place the cursor with the mouse, but the cursor keys do not respond. This is not a problem in any other GUI application (including oocalc2) and was not a problem in the previous version of openoffice.
I run KDE 3.4.3

Any suggestions ?
