This is a new clean installation of 2.6.13-gentoo-r5. My Netgear WG511T has Atheros chipset; worked fine with madwifi driver in a Debian system.

It seems that there is currently no stable madwifi ebuild? One "..._pre20050420-r1" says "masked by ~x86 keyword", and the other "..._pre20051111" says "masked by package.mask, ~x86 keyword".

But after reading a few threads it looks like the madwifi problems may be with newer kernels than mine. Does either of these ebuilds work with 2.6.13-r5?

This works for sure:
Quote:
Kernel: upto 2.6.13-gentoo-r3
Madwifi-driver: Installed: 0.1_pre20050420-r1
Madwifi-tools: Installed: 0.1_pre20050420
Wpa_supplicant: Installed: 0.3.9-r1
But I don't see why it wouldn't work with any other 2.6.13 kernel.
Add this:
Quote:
net-wireless/madwifi-driver ~x86
net-wireless/madwifi-tools ~x86
to your package.keywords, and emerge them.

You know I had to emerge --force =madwifi-driver-0.1_pre20050420-r1 to get it to emerge.

And emerge world is broken. I can't get it to stop trying to emerge 20051111. I've masked it in my own package.mask, but can't get it to stop trying to install.

Is this a problem becuase both of the ebuilds are ~x86 keywords?

I'm using the madwifi-driver pre20050420 build with the 2.6.13 kernel. Which errors are you getting?
