Hi..
I'm getting relay tired of the Samba nightmare.. It works like crap for me... Well of to the real problem..
I'm playing music over a mounted cifs filesystem.
The server that handles these files have never had any problems while using Windows XP when connection, it all works great. I have good speed too ap. 80-90Mbit/s.
When using Gentoo on my box. Running samba 3.0.20b. Running unstable because I had the same problem in the x86 version (dunno wich one).
I'll get these errors in my dmesg:
Code: |
CIFS VFS: notify rc 0
CIFS VFS: cifs dir notify on file <file on the server> with arg 0x8000003e
|
I have like 100-150 of these msg in dmesg.. With different filenames.
And after a while. Beep-media-player just stops working. I can use xkill to kill the window, but the process is still there.. I can't kill it with repeatetd sudo kill -9 processid.. I have tried like 20 times now..
I can't unmount the filesystem that the music is on.
I'm thinking of leaving Samba to /dev/null and move away from there... If I can't solve this... Can't run a machine that gets processess that can't be killed, and filesystems that can't be unmount.
Any solution to this problem?
Is there any better ways of sharing files Linux -> Linux with great speed?
Gonna restart my computer now... But I hope someone has got any clues.. _________________ After 5 hours trying to install PHP 4 on FreeBSD I missed my Gentoo machine... |
