I can not install GRP KDE from the package CD
I login as root and type: Code: | mount /mnt/cdrom
export PKGDIR="/mnt/cdrom" (There is no "packages" folder inside)
emerge --usepkg kde |
It tries to connect to the internet (sites such as ibiblio.org etc) and fails cus my ADSL is off.
Ok I connect the ADSL then it starts installing STAGE1 (although --usepkg)
Machine: Pentium3
I used:[/code]
CFLAGS: -O1 -mcpu=pentium3 -pipe
tarball: pentium3
kernel 2.6.12-6 gentoo sources menuconfig |

I have had the same problem for a week and after three installs I think I may have it.
Frist of all I hace an athlon -17oo xp so I used that tar ball and I couldn't install any GRP packages like KDE or any of the games ect... So I reread the instructions and I believe you have to download all the GRP packages for athlon xp from bittorrent. So I decided to reinstall and just use the x86 packages ( on my other comp w/Gentto I don't have an internet connection) now I am going to try the GRP packages as they may be only for the x86 tarball. I hope it works or I am going to quit trying and just go back to something else. NOT WINDOWS though. |
