Ok, I got into super-user in an ATerm, added my usual user to the games group, and now, all of the sudden, I can't even TRY to get into super-user again... All I get is Permission Denied, even with the correct password (I even changed my root password just to try and get it to work!)
I have no clue what happened. That's all I did, though! I did:
Code: |
usermod -G games derek
|
I'm basically a noob, so sorry if this is super obvious... I just can't emerge anything now, and I have some stuff I mean to emerge.
Erm, sorry... I can emerge stuff still, but what if this one terminal that I happen to be in super-user goes down for some reason (reboot, etc.)? I don't wanna risk not bein' able to do anything, so I'm keepin' it open as long as possible...
Thanks in advance! |

You removed the user from the wheel group with that command.
man usermod wrote: | -G group,[...]
A list of supplementary groups which the user is also a member of. Each group is separated from the next by a comma, with no intervening whitespace. The groups are subject to the same restrictions as the group given with the -g option. If the user is currently a member of a group which is not listed, the user will be removed from the group |
Moved to dups in favour of SA2: Why can't I su to root? _________________ KDE |
