Xorg.0.log.old:
...
Backtrace:
0: X(xf86SigHandler+0x83) [0x80cb7c9]

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11.  Server aborting

...
what?

does anybody else have that problem?

and can i redirect smplayer- (or mplayer-) output to a file instead of stdout?

edit: i happens with plain mplayer too. i can redirect the output easily.
too bad it doesnt want to crash now that i have the right options set up ;-)

Welcome to the reason I don't use mplayer. It's on my system only because transcode wants it. If I could completely nuke it, I would. My favorite media player remains gxine. It plays everything, and it's a lot less jittery than mplayer.

Blessed be!

Transcode doesn't depend on mplayer at all.

If not, I'd like to know what keeps calling it back from emerge -C land. I remove it, it comes back. While it doesn't matter since I don't use it, I'd still like to be rid of it.

Blessed be!

Talk about fast service! Actually, it's k9copy that wants mplayer, so I guess I keep it.

Blessed be!

The only other one of which I am aware is kaffeine, which naturally requires kde. I'm not all that impressed with kaffeine personally. Gxine rocks the Casbah for me.

Blessed be!
