XORG 7.0 NOT TO BE INCLUDED YET...
Personally, I do not use Xorg 7.0 modular yet (6.9 monolithic/cvs from nxsty)
Xorg 7.0 will not be included yet because of all the mass unmasking.
but,
If you want to see Xorg 7.0 modular in the scripts, I'd place it next to the 6.9 option, someone could write up a text file, like a bash script, but doesnt need to be in script form, that has commands to unmask/add to keywords/emerge Xorg 7.0, it is too much for me, and I dont even know how to emerge it I would take it and integrate it before 1.0
That is all
Just thought maybe someone who uses it, and wants in it Lucky-1.0 could make a list of commands/procedures to install it - then I would integrate it in there, and even put "Thanks to $NAME" for Xorg 7.0 Section in cyan letters _________________ IRC!: #zen-sources on irc.rizon.net

openmotif is a dependency of Xorg right? I know that package fails, it did for me on Modular X
I cant remember my resolution exactly, I know I didnt use Xorg modular anymore, I emerged 6.8.2, and I think it worked after that - I think you have to make sure xorg-x11 installs before openmotif, which doesnt happen in the way I tried to have it setup.
Steelrose,
You can try continuing from where you left off in the Conrad guide - On Xorg probally right? your system is bootable at that stage
*EDIT*
I am testing building Xorg 7.0_RC3 the right way right now, while the rest of the system is rebuilding - openmotif is about 7/10 of the way down the dependency list - I will see if everything works ok simply doing emerge xorg-x11 instead of with all those goodies with it _________________ IRC!: #zen-sources on irc.rizon.net

Cheater maybe you can include this handy script to unmask things http://gentoo-wiki.com/TIP_Mass_Unmasking its called emerge-alpha im sure the author wouldnt mind if you included it. the catch is emerge-alpha =x11-base/xorg-x11-7.0.0_rc3 wont pull in all those packages because for some reason some ebuilds have dependecy problems. so you would be best off echoing all thos packages to /etc/portage/package.unmask and Code: | >=x11-libs/libXv-0.99.1 ~x86

i was wondering if the scripts ask for all the needed information before doing any work. its a waste if time for it to stoip and ask a question 4 hours after the script was started. |

I know it makes it a little more annoying, but I proportioned it well enough, I think so at least.
But, the method of question asking on it is not just if fi stuff, and making it ask it all at once would not work very well,
I try to proportion them like this... (e's.g. shown how conrad and stable are proportioned)
Conrad
1 - Ask about network configuration
2 - Ask about lucky auto-partition
3 - ask about cfdisk/fdisk
4 - ask for boot, root and swap partitions and filesystems of root/boot and format/mount
(a lot of time automatic in step 5)
5 - ask for stage3 arch, download and portage snapshot, extract both, copy resolv.conf, etc.
6 - ask about locales, additional packages, architecture
(a lot of time automatic in step 7)
7 - do compiler upgrade (automatic/new/rebuilt/rebuilt system) - This takes the most time next to KDE or GNOME, but if they choose a light wm, like e17, then its the longest for sure.
8 - ask about kernel manual build and kernel type
9 - configure grub
10 ask questions like, root passwd, new user and passwd, use flags
(decent amount of automatic things and time in step 11)
11. ask about X.org 6.9_cvs
12. get and setup new cairo ebuild/patches/files (auto)
(a lot of automatic stuff done in step 13, if choosing kde or gnome)
13. ask window manager
14. ask rc-update, grub install, etc.
Stable
1 - Ask about network configuration
2 - Ask about lucky auto-partition
3 - ask about cfdisk/fdisk
4 - ask for boot, root and swap partitions and filesystems of root/boot and format/mount
(a lot of time automatic in step 5)
5 - ask for stage3 arch, download and portage snapshot, extract both, copy resolv.conf, etc.
6 - ask about locales, additional packages, architecture
(a lot of time automatic in step 7)
7 - Asks about Upgrading to GCC 3.4.4 (on x86 now) - does procedures following second method on gentoo.org.
8 - ask about kernel manual build and kernel type
9 - configure grub
10 ask questions like, root passwd, new user and passwd, use flags
(decent amount of automatic things and time in step 11)
11. ask about X.org 6.9_cvs
(a lot of automatic stuff done in step 12, if choosing kde or gnome)
12. ask window manager
13. ask rc-update, grub install, etc.
-----
As you can see, the items that take the most time, such as compiler upgrade, instead of stopping for gcc-config, etc, it does it all in an automatic picture, so the most time consuming part is automatic, then it stops and asks some little questions to get them out of the way, then it asks about wm/xorg, etc
So its not a bad experience trying to run it, because big steps are done in chunks, and if you were to install gentoo manually, it is a lot more automatic than that _________________ IRC!: #zen-sources on irc.rizon.net
