hi I want to rebuild GCC 3.4.4 that is install.
c/p from emerge output, just using some flags and pretend ..haven't build it yet.
Calculating dependencies
sys-devel/gcc-3.4.4-r1 [3.4.4] +altivec* -bootstrap -boundschecking -build +fortran +gcj* +gtk -hardened (-ip28) +mudflap* (-multilib) -multislot (-n32) (-n64) +nls -nocxx -nopie -nossp +objc* +objc-gc* -vanilla 27,037 kB
as you see I have added: altivec
gcj = java compiler ?
objc = objective C then what is objc-gc ??
vanilla means no patches i guess but as gound on gcc.gnu.org
bootstrap , boundschecking , build , hardened ,mudflap(which i added) what are those ??
nocxx = no C++ ?
nopie = ??
nossp = ??
Can someone explain ? |

emerge ufed and use that to edit your use flags (with descriptions of what they do) or look up the useflags in /usr/portage/profiles/use.desc or use.local.desc (depending on whether the use flag is global or local respectively.) _________________ Gentoo PPC FAQ: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-ppc-faq.xml |

Remove objc-gc from your USE flags. objc-gc is the objective-C garbage collector. However, I cannot emerge any gcc with it in USE flags. |
