|
|
Hi. I just upgraded to 3.5 and I notice a problem with panel hiding. I have multiple panels all automatically hidden on different parts of my screen. When I put my cursor against the side of the screen the panel is supposed to appear but it doesn't in 3.5 (it did in 3.4). This is a problem since All my panels are hidden all the time until I decide I want to use them.
Should I post this problem here or to the KDE forums? _________________ Life is too short and too important to { take seriously | use Windows }. |

Try both. If you get a fix there, post it (or a link to it) here. |

There is a setting that gets enabled in the 3.5 setup. It will only popup when you go to a certian part of the screen. I know the main panel on the bottom you have to go to the bottom left corner to get it to come up. I'm not sure about the others, but you should be able to turn off that setting from the main panel config. Just in case you can't find the others, you can do what I did this morning, login again and while the panels are loaded put you mouse on top so they don't hide.

I never posted to the kde forum but I did delete all my old settings (rm -Rf .kde*) and then recreated them and it works now. _________________ Life is too short and too important to { take seriously | use Windows }. |

I've the same problem.
After a while the panel doesn't show up when I move the pointer to the bottom of the screen (The settings are to remain hided until I put the pointer to the bottom of the screen).
If I launch KControl (with Alt-F2 because I can't access the K menu) and I modify the setting (ie. Raise when the pointer touch the screen: Bottom left) press Apply and then rechange the setting to the previous (Bottom) all return normal. After some days the panel stop working again and I've to remodify the settings.
I don't know if this is a bug that happens only on gentoo or if it's general to kde 3.5 |

I have no problem with hiding panels with kde3.5, it is working very good in gentoo.
I think that your problem may be related to some mixing between config files for different kde versions (if you upgraded recently to kde3.5). Have you tried hiding panels in kde3.5 for another user on your system?
Hope this helps. |

I have the same problem of the Kicker disappering and not coming up sometimes. I use KDE 3.5.2 and totally cleaned my settings (rm -r .kde*).
Where did you file these bugs and what's the status on them?

have you looked in "right-click desktop->properties" (sitting by a win comp so can't recall exact name" then go to the config for the taskbar. Look for where the mouse should go to when retrieving the taskbar. In 3.5 it is default set to lower left corner I think instead of bottom row. Set it to bottom row and your problems should be solved. |

I have tried that, it doesn't help which corner or edge you put it (or none of them at all). |

My first guess would be the panel configuration file ~/.kds3.5/share/config/kickerrc. |
